We will happily help you find the perfect wine for your wedding or event. Choosing the right wine to suit your menu, budget and guests can seem like a daunting task. But with our expert advice, it's easy – just follow the guidelines below.
Bringing your own wine to the venue not only saves you money – it also means you get much better quality.
Most people tend to select the house wines offered by their venue, which is normally priced at €25 - €30 per bottle. Believe it or not, the price of that wine at your local off licence would retail closer to €6.99. Yes, really.
By choosing a wine for say, €10 per bottle from an off licence instead of opting for your venue's house options, you're choosing a much better wine and paying much less for it.
If you choose to bring your own wine for your event, your venue will apply a corkage fee to any bottle opened by them. This fee varies from venue to venue. €8 - €18 per bottle of wine and €12 - €30 per bottle of bubbly could be considered a 'ballpark' average.
Even with a corkage fee added on to the cost of your wine, bringing your own still ends up cheaper. Let's look at the maths; say you have 100 guests coming to your event and have allocated a half bottle to each person. You'll need 50 bottles in total.
50 bottles of house wine @ €30 per bottle = €1500 total
50 bottles of off licence wine @ €9.99 per bottle = €499.50
Add in corkage @ €10 per bottle = €999.50 total
Your savings? €500.50!

If you're buying wine for a big event, we offer a bulk discount. The exact amount depends on how many bottles you buy, so it's best to get in touch with us before purchasing. Plus, we can help you find the perfect wine to match your menu. We'll even deliver it to your venue or address at no extra cost.
If you don't use all the wine you buy, we'll take back up to 50% of any unopened bottles and refund you fully for them.
As well as our bulk discount and refund policy, your venue will likely be willing to negotiate on the cost of corkage. So don't be afraid to try out your haggling skills for even more savings.
As a rule of thumb, allow half a bottle of wine per guest. This is enough for two glasses + a top up per person. For champagne or sparkling wine, you'll get 8 glasses per bottle. On average a large event will have more white wine drinkers than red wine drinkers. 60:40 white to red is a safe ratio to work with.
It's always better to have too much rather than too little, so add a few 'buffer bottles' onto how much you think you'll need. Remember we'll refund you for some of the bottles you don't open (or you can keep them for post-wedding celebrations).
We know a thing or two about crowd-pleasing wines, so we've put together a recommended wine list below. If you'd like to try before you buy, add your chosen bottles to your cart and at checkout, write 'tasting bottles for wedding' in the order notes. Be sure to let us know your wedding date too, so we can put plenty of bottles aside for your big day.
